On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab police intensified the special campaign against kite flying across the province

Large-scale action under the Anti-Kite Flying Act across the province, hundreds of cases registered.

On the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a special campaign against kite flying by Punjab Police is going on across the province, in this regard hundreds of cases have been registered under the Anti-Kite Flying Act across the province including Lahore. Spokesman Punjab Police said that 512 suspects involved in kite flying were arrested across the province during the last 24 hours.  535 cases were registered while 59877 kites, 700 strings and spinning wheels were recovered from the possession of the accused. Spokesman Punjab Police said that 2991 people were arrested while registering 2855 cases in the ongoing crackdown since 01 month. 105076 kites, 2791 spinning wheels were recovered from the possession of the accused.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed that CCPO Lahore, RPOs, DPOs adopt zero tolerance against kite flying and those involved in the manufacture, sale and use of metal strings and kites should be brought to justice.  IG Punjab further said that strict action should also be taken against those who sell kites and metallic strings online. IGP Punjab requested citizens to support the police in their campaign against the kite flying. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that public awareness should be raised about the deadly harm of kite flying with the support of civil society.
