Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has wished warm greetings to the Christian community on their religious festival of Easter. On the instructions of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab police remained on high alert on the occasion of Easter and fool-proof security arrangements were ensured for Christian places of worship, parks and other such places across the province. IG Punjab also congratulated all Christian officers and personnel of Punjab Police on Easter. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the Punjab Police is equal participant in the joys of the Christian community. On Easter, Punjab Police has ensured security arrangements under a comprehensive strategy. IG Punjab said that excellent security has been provided to the Christian community during religious and prayer events. According to the spokesman of Punjab Police, more than 11 thousand police officers and officials performed security duties for 2649 Easter programs across the province including Lahore.
More than 2,000 police officers and officials are deployed for the security of Easter programs in Lahore. On the instructions of IG Punjab, additional personnel, snipers and police commandos were deployed at sensitive churches and the participants were allowed to enter the churches only after complete checking and identification. IG Punjab said that the police and community volunteers were very vigilant, the movement of suspicious persons, goods and surroundings was closely monitored. Supervisory police officers personally checked the security arrangements of the churches. RPOs, CPOs, DPOs, police officers were in constant touch with the administration of the churches. On the orders of IG Punjab, Dolphin, PERU, Elite Force youth ensured effective patrolling around the sensitive churches and the officers remained at their duty point until the end of Easter prayers, security checks at the entrances and exits of the cities were more stringent.
