Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Ali Murtaza (RA)/Punjab Police High alert, ensured foolproof security arrangements across the province

More than 24,000 police officers and officials performed the security duties of Yom-e-Ali (RA), IG Punjab.

On the instructions of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, foolproof security arrangements were ensured for processions and majalis held across the province on the occasion of 21st Ramadan, the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (AS) and the police teams led by RPOs, CPOs and DPOs remained on high alert and performed the security duties of 812 majalis and 192 processions organized on the occasion of Hazrat Ali Martyrdom Day (RA). IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that more than 24,000 police officers and officials performed the security duties of processions and majalis. 16 thousand officers and officials were deployed for the security of 192 processions across the province including Lahore, while more than 8000 officers and officials were deployed for the security of 812 Majlis. More than 5,000 personnel were deployed for the security of the main funeral processions and majalis in the provincial capital Lahore.

The mourners were allowed to join the processions only after thorough checking by the security mechanism based on 03 tiers. Spokesman of Punjab Police said that 27 processions of A category were held across Punjab, 62 majalis were held. All activities were being monitored from the Central Control and Monitoring Room established in the Central Police Office. Spokesperson of Punjab Police said that continuous monitoring of processions and majalis continued from the control rooms of Safe Cities Authority, District Administration. Police teams performed their duties on high alert, checking was ensured with walk-through gates, metal detectors. On the instructions of IG Punjab, lady police officers were deployed for security checking of women mourners, while commandos in plain clothes, snipers were deployed on the roofs of the routes in processions. On the direction of Dr. Usman Anwar, special measures were made to maintain the flow of traffic through alternative routes across the province. All field formations, including Dolphin Squad, PRU, Special Branch, CTD, adopted a common plan of action in the security arrangements of Hazrat Ali's (RA) Martyrdom Day, while RPOs, CPOs and DPOs remained in the field for checking security arrangements for processions and majalis in sensitive districts.
