On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police’s crackdown for Drug Free Punjab campaign continues without interruption, in this regard in the ongoing operations, Punjab Police conducted 236 raids on the bases of drug dealers across the province including Lahore in a single day and 86 accused were arrested while registering 83 FIRs against the accused involved in drug trafficking.56 kg of charas 01 kg of heroin, 840 grams of Ice and 828 liters of alcohol were recovered from the possession of the accused.
Spokesman Punjab Police said that 16,487 raids were conducted on the bases of drug dealers throughout the province during the special campaign launched since February 26, 7842 cases were registered against drug dealers and 8322 accused were arrested. 5330 kg of charas, 97 kg of heroin, 216 kg of opium, 27 kg of Ice, 105048 liters of alcohol were recovered from the possession of the accused.
IG Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, while giving directions for speeding up intelligence-based operations against drug dealers, said that RPOs, DPOs expose and brought to justice all the accused involved in drug supply chain business. IG Punjab further said that priority actions should be taken against the accused involved in the business of ice sheesha and other modern narcotic drugs and combing operations should be accelerated especially in the vicinity of educational institutions and hostels on daily basis.
