Mujahid police to register cases against fake callers

LAHORE: Mujahid police force on Sunday decided to register cases against fake callers under section 29 of the Telegraph Act who misused this public service and also created serious problems for genuine callers. Police Emergency 15, received around 1,610,592 calls during January to December 29, 2013, out of which 1,413,328 found fake calls.
 
However, police emergency received 1,97,364 genuine calls and police provided them facility as well as rescued the citizens timely. SP Mujahid Muhammad Masoom told Daily Times that people must avoid making wrong calls or misuse this public service because genuine callers faced serious difficulties when they found 15 emergency lines repeatedly busy after several attempts.
 
On this situation, he said that public trust would subside on the force which was started to overpower street crimes. Muhammad Masoom said that several initiatives would be taken to establish the emergency police force.
 
He said different awareness programmes would be arranged at city schools, colleges, universities and general public on different roads, markets, shopping mall even all UC level in the provincial metropolis. He said that police emergency experts would teach children, students and others about the importance of emergency police 15 service.
 
He said that police high-ups also reviewed the performance of this force and tried to solve the financial or other problems faced by emergency police 15.
 
He added that the new motorcycles, cars and other vehicles would be purchased soon, adding other vehicles would also be repaired.
 
He said that police emergency-15 telephone lines would also increase for the public interest because the population had increased in the city for last few years.
