‘Collector’ caught red-handed

LAHORE: The city traffic police on Thursday arrested an accused from the Shahdara area on the charges of collecting money from commuters in the name of police.

Shaukat Ali was involved in collecting money from commuters, including truck drivers, at Saggian diversion and the nearby area. On a tip-off, the city traffic police arrested the accused red-handedly and handed him over to the local police for further investigation. A case was also registered against him. Meanwhile, police have claimed to have arrested two accused involved in various crimes including street crimes and robberies.

The accused ringleader Mustafa and his accomplice Mahmood Ali were captured on a tip off, while two motorcycles, mobile phones, cash and other items had also been recovered from them.
