Positive results achieved by NAP implementation

LAHORE - There is no room of militancy and sectarianism in the province and Punjab police is following zero tolerance policy in this regard and also achieving positive results by successfully implementing the National Action Plan (NAP) in its true letter and spirit. 
 
These views were expressed by Punjab IGP Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera while answering to the questions of 62 participants of 104th National Management Course during their visit of Central Police Office on Tuesday. DIG Operations Amir Zulfiqar, Addl IGP Training, Addl IGP Operations, Punjab, Addl IGP Establishment, Punjab, Addl IGP Special Branch, Punjab, Addl IGP CTD, DIG Headquarters and AIG Finance were present. Briefing the delegation regarding the crime situation in Punjab, Addl IGP, Training, said only in first two months of 2016 there is prominent decrease in murder cases which reduced by 6pc, sectarian murder 100pc, religious cases decreased by 75pc, kidnapping for ransom by 67pc, robbery including motorcycle snatching and street crime decreased by 18pc from January to February 2016. 
 
Answering the questions regarding the implementation of Nation Action Plan, the IGP said during the last 18 months Punjab police conducted 43,739 search operations whereas 139,5067 persons were questioned and 7,274 cases were registered. Police impounded 154,490 vehicles of without number plates, unauthorised number plates and tinted glasses during this period, he said. 
 
When asked about the police encounters, the IGP said every encounter was judicially enquired and the officials found guilty were punished. He said IT-based policing has started and projects like 8,787 SMS service, centralised complaint handling centre, digital beat books, establishment of front desk, computerisation of record management of the police stations and human resource computerisation projects have been very successfully operational. 
 
Answering regarding the banned outfits, the IGP said all the banned organisations were under strict surveillance and they were not allowed to hold any activity in the province. He said the Punjab police is utilising the intelligence sharing with other law enforcing agencies and this was the reason that a successful operation was done by the police in south Punjab to eliminate the criminals and terrorists. Later, the IGP presented a traditional police souvenir to the visiting delegation.
