Accountability Division set up for Lahore police

LAHORE–Following special directives by the provincial police chief, an Internal Accountability Division (IAD) was set up for Lahore Police under the chairmanship of SSP Discipline and Inspection Shariq Kamal Siddique on Monday.

Authorities concerned have empowered the IAD to deal with moral and monetary corruption, dishonesty, professional misconduct and heinous crimes of other nature among the officers of Lahore Police.

According to a notification, Kamal has been appointed as incharge IAD, while DSP Mansoor Qamar, PSO to CCPO Lahore, and three Inspectors including Sheikh Muhammad Ghias, Azam Talib and Sajjad Butt from the Discipline Branch have been appointed as members of the IAD. It may be noted here that such internal accountability divisions are being set up in Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Sahiwal and other regions of Punjab.

Meanwhile, Punjab Inspector General of Police Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman has approved the recommendations of Punjab additional IGP for promoting 15 sub-inspectors to the rank of inspector (telecommunications).

The decision was made on Monday in a high-level meeting held at the City Police Office under the chairmanship of Punjab Additional IGP Malik Khuda Bakhsh Awan. DIG Headquarters, Muhammad Tahir, AIG Legal Ehsan Ullah Bajwa and AIG Career Planning Faisal Ali Raja were also present in the meeting. The meeting reviewed all cases of promotion which were lying pending since 2008. With the mutual consent of the officers who were present in the meeting.
