Six gangs of auto-lifters smashed

LAHORE – Capital City Police Officer Ahmed Raza Tahir on Thursday claimed that the City Police have smashed six gangs of auto-lifters by arresting its 40 members during the month of March 2012. He further said the police also recovered no less than 272 stolen vehicles from their possession.

Addressing a press conference here at Investigations Headquarters Qila Gujjar Singh on Thursday afternoon, Ahmed Raza Tahir said the police also arrested 34 proclaimed offenders and 49 court absconders during this period. DIG Investigations Malik Ali Amir and SP Syed Jamat Ali Bokhari were also present on this occasion.

According to the police, SP (CRO) had constituted different special teams to launch crackdown against auto-lifters. The police teams arrested 40 car lifters of six gangs including their ringleaders and recovered 119 cars and 85 motorcycles from them.
