IGP orders search for Millat Park killers

LAHORE - Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has directed the officers concerned to improve response time to 15 emergency calls and take departmental action without discrimination against the officials responsible for the delay.

Chairing a meeting at Central Police Office on Friday, he directed the officers to develop a pro forma for registration of tenants and all members living in a house. Teams should be built that collect information about whereabouts of tenants and their occupation.

While taking briefing on progress of Millat Park incident investigation, the IGP directed the CCPO and DIG Operations, Lahore, to conduct special search operation in two kilometres radius of the crime scene and ensure arrest of the culprits immediately.

The IGP directed that four special investigation teams working on this case should brief him on the latest progress in a day.

He said protection of honour, lives and properties of the citizens was the primary responsibility of the police and the arrest of culprits of five murders was a challenge for police force. To strengthen the sense of protection and security in citizens, it is a matter of utmost importance to apprehend accused of this case.

Punjab Additional IGP Operations and Investigation Arif Nawaz, Lahore CCPO, Commandant PC, DIG Operations, Lahore, DIG Investigation, Lahore,  AIG Operations and other officers were also present.

The CCPO, briefing the IGP on patrolling plan of Lahore Police to prevent street crimes, said that, after identifying crime pockets in all divisions of Lahore, Dolphin Force was deployed for patrolling on eight hours shift, while PRU Force was also patrolling along with Dolphin Force in different crime-hit areas of the cCty. Dolphin and PRU Forces are being monitored by the officers and sector in charges along with usage of trackers and android phones with GPS system.  Dolphin and PRU Squads have arrested 288 perpetrators of street crimes, while arrest of 80 hardened proclaimed offenders is on the credit of PRU and Dolphin, he added.

The IGP directed utilisation of all possible resources to apprehend criminals involved in recent street crime incidents. He asked the officers to call a meeting of the teams working on it to brief him on the latest progress in this regard.
