115 Kite fliers arrested for violating ban

LAHORE: Police on Sunday arrested 115 kite fliers and seized kites and allied material from them.

According to details, police recovered 8,102 kites and more than 300 stings form them. DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf said that so far 103 FIRs had been registered against kite fliers without any discrimination across the city.

On the direction of the DIG Operations, police have launched the crackdown on kite fliers and kite sellers.

The Punjab government has imposed a strict ban on kite flying in the province but sometimes the citizens ignore it.

Deaths and injuries caused by stray bullets, electrocution and sharpened kite-strings, falling off rooftops are common during kite flying in the city. Kite fliers often use metal or grinded glass coated strings.
