First five days IG Punjab Volleyball Gold Cup Tournament being organized by Sports Board Punjab Police will start from March 08 at WAPDA Sports Complex, Ferozepur Road, Lahore. Teams of Punjab Police, Army, Navy, PAF, WAPDA and provincial teams of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab will participate in the tournament. Punjab Minister for Sports Jahangir Khanzada will be the chief guest of opening ceremony. Matches will begin at 10 A.M daily and according to the schedule, all teams will play matches against each other. Closing ceremony of Gold Cup will be held on March 12, in which chief guest Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera will distribute prizes among players of winner and runner-up teams.
The purpose of organizing this tournament is to promote sports in police force, encouragement of players and to strengthen relations with other departments. Efforts of Director General Sports Board Punjab Police, Additional IG Operations Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz, and CCPO Lahore Muhammad Amin Wains for organizing this tournament are worth appreciation.
Sports Board Punjab Police also has planned other sports events along with this Volleyball Gold Cup Tournament and Annual Inter-Region Sports Competitions in whole Punjab are beginning from March 15 and will continue till April 15.
