RAWALPINDI: The inspector general of the police has directed that all police officials in the Rawalpindi division shall wear the new dark olive green uniform from Tuesday.
In a letter to Regional Police Officer Mohammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja, the IGP directed that all the senior and junior, including the RPO and CPO, should wear the new uniform from September 12.
Soon after the IGP’s orders were received, the police officials/officers started ironing their new uniforms which they were not willing to put on after the PML-N parliamentarians from Rawalpindi and some divisional police chiefs opposed its colour. The distribution of the new uniforms was postponed in July.
An intelligence agency had also carried out a survey during which the new uniform was found to be unpopular among the police force as well as the citizens.
