LAHORE: Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested 219 suspects in search, combing and intelligence operation in the province.
According to a handout, the Punjab police checked 5,003 citizens in different areas of the province and had taken 219 of them into custody.
The law-enforcement agencies arrested nine in Lahore, 11 in Sheikhupura, eight in Gujranwala, 13 in Sargodha, 38 in Faisalabad, 23 in Multan, 11 in Sahiwal, six in Dera Ghazi Khan and seven in Bahawalpur.
Inspector General of Police Arif Nawaz ordered search operations on a daily basis and directed all the district and regional police officers to personally monitor these in their respective areas.
