Inspector General Punjab Police, Arif Nawaz Khan has said that Special Protection Unit (SPU) should work together with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to get installed special counters on airports for security of foreign experts and investors especially Chinese inhabitants.
The data of every foreign citizen should be registered so that security measures could be taken at airports. He further said that the first special counter for this purpose should be installed at Lahore Airport.
IGP Punjab has directed Addl: IGP welfare to ensure that availability of bullet proof jackets and helmets to SPU as early as possible and also ensure the provision of all luggage on preferential basis.
He expressed these views while addressing a summit over viewing the progress of special protection unit at the central police office on Monday.
CCPO Lahore Captain (r) Muhammad Ameen Wains, Addl IG Welfare & Finance Muhammad Tahir, DIG Operations Punjab, Amir Zulfiqar Khan, DIG Special Protection Unit, Faisal Ali Rana, DIG Elite Force, Afzal Mehmud Butt, DIG Operations Lahore, Dr. Haider Ashraf, SSP Administration Lahore, Rana Ayyaz Saleem, SSP Special Branch Lahore Region, Capt (R) Romail Akram and other police officers also attended the meeting.
IG Punjab also said that it is the prime responsibility of the police and SPU to ensure the security of all foreigners working on developmental projects including mega project of CPEC.
He further said that the personnel of SPU needed to work with true spirit and with great zeal. Moreover he reiterated that CPEC projects and working sites should be guarded efficiently, and on duty personnel should be equipped with speedy vehicles, modern weapons and all other concerned articles.
Meanwhile, the meeting also reviewed the overall performance of Dolphin Force established to exclusively fight street crime in different districts of the Punjab.
The IGP directed the Lahore CCPO to deploy newly passed out squad of the Dolphin force in different parts of the city in shifts for patrolling and make it sure that there should be no recession of patrolling of Dolphin Force in all the important roads and sensitive localities .
